SIR – David Barlow asks why some of your letters contributors are not in accord with the main political parties on the question of our membership of the EU.
Might I suggest that perhaps quite a lot of people do not trust politicians in general as it is quite obvious that in order to safeguard their own position politicians must disregard the views of the people who elected them and toe the party line.
If Mr Barlow is so sure of his ground on the EU question why doesn’t he ask the politicians to honour their promise on a referendum? Or doesn’t he believe in democracy? No wonder we get such a low turn-out at elections!
