SIR – It cannot be said too often that Tony Eaves is 100 per cent wrong to blame the EU for post office closures.
(Letters, November 14.) There are only three reasons that post offices are closing.
First, this Labour government forced massive amounts of business away from them. Second, many of us are doing things online (such as car tax renewal) that we used to do at post offices. Third, the Government failed to recognise the importance of post offices and didn’t work soon enough on an action plan to save the network.
The EU doesn’t have the tiniest share of blame for the closure of post offices in my Mid-Worcestershire constituency, but Gordon Brown has a lot to answer for.
PETER LUFF, Member of Parliament for Mid-Worcestershire.
