SIR – It might be possible to avoid more tragedies like Baby P, but it would mean getting proper access to all the no-go areas in our nightmare inner cities where police and social services personnel hardly dare to tread.
And, we would have to disband a huge army of human rights activists and politicians and lawyers and journalists and community leaders who make it their business to “protect” folk like Baby P’s mother from the prying eyes of snooping social workers and our Big Brother police state.
Then we would have to find the money and staff to keep many more thousand children in our care system.
A care system which is already bursting at the seams. No folks, it won’t happen. We will pay Lord Laming to salve our consciences and persecute a few social workers – and switch on Russell Brand and forget all about Baby P!
JIM EVANS,
Worcester.
