SIR – What excellent coverage in the Worcester News for both Remembrance Sunday, November 9, and 11am on November 11, with extensive listing of the events surrounding the homage we pay to all the fallen in battle.
Considering the cold blustery weather there was indeed a worthy attendance of families spanning several generations.
Congratulations to Sunday’s organisers, who prior to 11am distributed programmes by using very smart army and Royal Air Force cadets.
The police-controlled diversion of road traffic from College Street and Deansway added even more reverence to this solemn gathering united in respect of the royal proclamation by King George V on November 7, 1919, that called for a twominute silence so “the thoughts of everyone may be concentrated on the reverent remembrance of the Glorious Dead”.
BRIAN HUNT, Vice-chairman Worcestershire Pensioners Action Group.
