SIR – I feel I must reply to Patricia Steel’s letter (October 18) suggesting to bring back the Tories and the finances will improve.

I beg to differ with you Patricia.

The last time the Tories were in power they sold off the utilities which we are all paying heavily for now.

They introduced the council tax which is a very unfair tax.

There was no money invested in hospitals – you had to wait two years or more.

Most councils are Tory controlled and they haven’t been able to control their own finances.

They’ve had to come back year after year demanding more council tax.

Those who did save money wanted to put it in far-off shores, when they should have invested in Britain.

JOHN SHEARON, Worcester.
