SIR – Regarding the letter from David Barlow, “How is it that political leader and governments of all persuasions (supported in aggregate by the majority of voters) broadly endorsed the EU.”

If the majority of voters welcome the EU why doesn’t the present incumbent of number 10 put it to the vote?

According to Mr Barlow it should be a foregone conclusion.

With respect to Winston Churchill – “Never before in the history of political conflict have so many been browbeaten by so few.”

I suggest Mr Barlow would do well to widen his circle of friends and listen to comments regarding this issue. It’s called democracy and freedom of speech.
