SIR – Regarding Bernard Mill’s letter about disabled people parking on yellow lines and generally parking two wheels on the pavement, I make the following observations.
Regarding disabled people parking on yellow lines, I am a blue badge holder and the Department of Transport guideline for blue badge holders and their drivers says the following: “When parking on yellow lines or where there is a time limit for parking in the space (as shown on the local signs) the blue parking disc (clock) must also be displayed showing the time that you arrive.”
I find this rather difficult to comprehend but at least it shows that given the right conditions, blue badge holders can park on yellow lines.
Turning to general parking – two wheels on the pavement – I understand from one of my local policing team that this is now legal. There should be enough room for pedestrians and invalid vehicles to pass on the pavement.
