SIR – I read your article on Superintendent Rod Reynolds’ comments about cyclists riding on the footpath and he agreed it was a criminal offence.
If it is an offence then he should enforce it.
Also as the dark mornings and nights are upon us Superintendent Reynolds should enforce the law that cyclists have lights on the front and rear of their bikes.
I go out early in the mornings and I am amazed at the amount of cyclists I see without lights.
If it was me in my car and I had a light out it wouldn’t be long before I was stopped and given fixed penalty points, so why not treat cyclists the same?
After all if we cannot see them how can we be blamed for knocking them over?
M GALE,
Worcester
