SIR – While walking along New Street, Worcester, I noticed a Worcester City Council lorry collecting from the restaurants and pubs large quantities of bottles out of green bins, paper, cardboard, and black bin liners but all going into the same lorry and crushed together. I am informed that this is OK since they pay extra for this trade collection. Well, it’s not OK since a bottle is a bottle, paper is paper whether it comes out of a pub/restaurant or from my house, and yes we recycle and also pay towards collection out of our council tax.

Surely recycling is not solely based upon who pays what. It is an attempt by us all to save this planet for all our children and generations to come. So come on Worcester City Council get your recycling act together, now.

BRIAN HUNT,

Worcester
