SIR – As someone who usually agrees with George Cowley’s letters, I have to disagree with his letter ‘Under 25s should not be allowed to drive.’ Yes, some young drivers are reckless (and it’s not all mad men racing along Windermere Drive. There are a good number of young mad women, and they’re not all young – both male or female) but the majority of young drivers are responsible and many need to drive to earn a living.

Please, let’s not demoralise them all. We need to encourage our youngsters to be responsible. For those that really can’t be helped due to their arrogance, lock them up, and ban them from driving – for life.

JULIAN DOWLING, Worcester.
