SIR – As a resident of Kempsey, one of the villages which will be badly affected by any increase in housing, I welcome Mike Foster’s honesty in supporting the proposals – but not his stupidity.
For a start the “need” for several hundred thousand new houses throughout England is a complete fabrication.
Any number of surveys will tell you that up to 850,000 empty houses are already available, thus making the whole thing a charade.
Furthermore, much of the land proposed for Kempsey has already been flooded more than once in the past.
New houses will hardly improve that situation.
Thirdly, pray tell me, who the hell is going to buy all these houses?
Many of the new build sites in Worcester are out of reach of the average person or built on ridiculous sites (eg Diglis).
MIKE RANDALL, Kempsey.
