SIR – In reference to the article ‘Estate could have alcohol-free zone’, which talks about the St Peter’s estate.
I am very glad to hear of the news for St Peter’s, however, I live in Warndon and we desperately need an alcohol-free zone every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night because the people here have to suffer from loud, drunken behaviour, fights and vandalism.
No matter how many times we call the police nothing is done. I have contacted the parish councillors and the city councillors and nothing happens.
The majority of the people in this area are of retirement age and it is a social and economically poor area. What is being made distinctly clear to the people of this area is that we are being isolated and neglected by this division between Warndon Villages and Warndon.
I agree with parish councillor John Buckley, Warndon, who stated last summer that bans in some areas turn the police into pied pipers and, putting it bluntly, lure the issue of anti-social behaviour away from nice middle class areas into areas that desperately need help now but are overlooked.
Somebody has to acknowledge the differences and preferences shown between Warndon Villages and Warndon and allow us all to live peaceful.
J KEELEY,
Worcester.
