SIR – Wychavon District Council and Pershore Town Council have decided on yet another wetland in Pershore, right by the river, which already floods.
All I can see happening, assuming they manage to encourage the birds they are hoping for, is youngsters with catapults and air guns firing at them. That, of course, is if the youngsters don’t manage to drown themselves first.
I understand that there is going to be yet another boardwalk on this wetland – I wonder if this one will have a handrail? We are still waiting for one to be erected on the boardwalk in Abbey Park to give elderly people some security and stability while crossing it.
From a distance, the socalled wetland area on the Abbey Park looks not too bad. However, when you get closer you realise it is just a load of overgrown grass and weeds hiding pockets of water that are stagnant. At best it just looks as though it is an odd bit of the park that has been forgotten to be mowed.
Any dogs that happen to play in the overgrown grass come out smelling horrendous.
I am not sure how much of our money they intend wasting on this project, but is it possible for council tax payers who have not been consulted and who think this is just a total waste of money to have a refund on their council tax or have their share spent on something a lot more worthwhile?
