SIR – Once again our elected representative of the Labour government is behaving like his cabinet colleagues, blinded by their lack of success and “they are listening” quotes.

Regarding ‘Widespread support for health centre’ (August 19), Mike Foster’s postal survey shows that seven out of 10 people in the city support plans for a new GP surgery.

Excuse me! This is like the ex-Chancellor of the Exchequer – now failed Prime Minister – who’s sums don’t add up.

How does 449 positive and negative responses out of 541 people surveyed add up to “suggest overwhelming levels of support” in a city of how many hundreds of thousands?

Secondly, ‘MP calls for free swimming’.

Don’t worry, the Government has promised funding for the first two years!

What makes them so sure they will be in power in two years’ time? What happens after the two years? Once again it will be pushed onto the poor tax payers, the majority of whom never go swimming.

P HINE,

Worcester.
