SIR – For years the water company has been charging well over inflation. It was claimed they needed the money for new pipes. Surely that’s down to the shareholders to pay for new infrastructure?

After all, they make pretty large profits. If OFWAT allows them to put up their prices again the Government should get rid of OFWAT because they are not looking after the customers as they should.

There’s no way the water company should be asking for more money.

They are just jumping on the band-wagon of the other utilities.

The price of gas has fallen quite a bit since British Gas put up their prices, which shows it wasn’t really necessary.

The Government should step in to stop the plunder of the British public.

JOHN SHEARON,

Worcester.
