SIR – Congratulations to councillor Andy Roberts for naming and shaming several tatty buildings in the city centre (August 11).
There are also three properties in St John’s, which I believe were bought by Sainsbury’s as part of the land required to build their supermarket, including what is now just part of the frontage of the old cinema. These are an eyesore and we don’t seem to know what plans there are for them. Remaining as they are is detrimental to St John’s shopping area.
I would also nominate as tatty the wall under Foregate Street bridge on the cinema side. The rather splendid bridge could also do with a bit of tender loving care. Perhaps Railtrack could be approached to do this, maybe as a joint venture with the city council.
R E TUNSTALL,
Worcester.
