SIR – Some people believe that we still govern our own country and that the EU has very little relevance.

Some facts are worthy of note.

In the last year the EU has introduced nearly 2,000 laws, directives and regulations which affect what we do every day of our lives, for example the price of eggs, arc of windscreen wipers, more funds for tobacco farmers, ingredients of beauty products and packaging of pet foods It is estimated that directly and indirectly the EU and its subsidiary organisations employ at least 170,000 civil servants, some EU quangos refuse to give employment numbers.

This means it is bigger than the British Army.

All this costs us a fortune in taxes we pay to the EU.

Why don’t we leave this futile organisation and spend our money on what we believe is important for our future good health and happiness.

Leigh Sinton.
