SIR – We are constantly being urged to get out of our cars and onto public transport.

So, my wife and daughter recently did the public spirited thing and used the bus from CrownGate to Worcestershire Royal Hospital and she was charged a huge £8.50 for the privilege. I’m still in shock.

It is no wonder people will not get out of their cars.

Not only do cars offer convenience and comfort, but even with spiralling fuel costs and parking fees taken into consideration, using the car is much, much cheaper than going by bus. That fare is disgraceful.

N FOWLER,

Worcester.
