SIR – Regarding who should tidy up after travellers, why can’t the people on community service be used?
Inevitably some paid supervision would be necessary from the public purse, but at least it would be a more moderate cost in dealing with the consequences.
At present, the owner foots the bill, but if he had to pay a percentage, he would not be so worse off.
There is probably some legal reason against this.
