SIR – As reported in Wednesday’s Worcester News, I really hope that the long awaited and much needed plans to re-develop Lowesmoor, so long an embarrassment to Worcester, are not allowed to be scuppered by one land owner who appears to be holding the city and the developers over a barrel to get his own way.
If the council has powers to overturn the rights of way issue for what is undoubtably the greater good, then it should do so immediately without equivocation. The Bodywork shop, in my view, should be re-located as a compulsory purchase as it would be in a totally inappropriate location if the re-development is to reach its full potential benefit to the city.
Goodness knows there are enough light industrial units in Worcester – for example the Great Western Business Park to name but one – crying out for a tenant.
May common sense prevail please.
JEREMY DAVIES, Worcester.
