Mention your opposition to the Grand National and you get one of three responses; someone who smiles or leers and thinks you are stupid for worrying about something that shouldn’t concern you.
Or a vehement reaction stating that you shouldn’t push your beliefs on to people.
While there are those that despise people who are prepared to risk their liberty and freedoms for that of the horses racing, there will be those that have an understanding of man’s interference with nature through the breeding programmes of these racing machines; and if this concept were extended to man, the majority of us would be incensed, appalled at us wanting to play God.
Man’s dominion and manipulation over animals has created this huge industry driven by greed and is sadly seen by other beings (equally as manipulated) as the potential for a way out of their financial misery.
It is not much more than a glorified circle of suffering for both man and beast.
And most of those attending on the 15th will be there for the social aspect and indifferent to the horses.
Poor horses.
