We organised a Queen’s Platinum Jubilee street party last year in our road, Grosmont Avenue, Berkeley Heywood, Worcester WR4.
It was such a great success within our local neighbourhood, allowing some families the opportunity to meet for the first time. It was a lot of fun.
I was later contacted by a lovely lady Lisa Smith at Worcester Council, to see if we would like to have a tree planted as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy.
This is a nationwide initiative created to mark the Platinum Jubilee and a living legacy of our amazing Queen.
We chose a pear tree to incorporate the significance within our city of Worcester.
We planted our tree in a green space on Grosmont Avenue on Saturday, January 28 2023 and celebrated with a small neighbours get together.
It is now in place for the local community to watch it grow and hopefully to enjoy the fruit in the coming years.
