SIR - I write to you expressing concern for all pedestrians using Worcester canal towpaths.
Time goes by, but not for canal cyclists obviously - it is now illegal for manufacturers and suppliers to sell a cycle without a bell, but apparently not for a cyclist to ensure they use them.
Despite the fact that it is illegal for motorists to use a mobile phone while driving, it is perfectly OK for cyclists to use an MP3 player etc (both earphones connected ) while riding.
I visited the canal towpath in Lowesmoor on 11 occasions last week to feed a nesting swan. I encountered about 20 cyclists, one of whom was considerate, but 17 didn't even bother to acknowledge me, and two came dangerously near to either seriously harming me or forcing me in to the canal. Please cyclists, show some respect.
NIGEL WARWICK, Ombersley.
