AS part of the worldwide Bosch Group, taking care of our employees and ensuring that they are treated in a fair and just manner lies at the heart of our values as a company.
We take this responsibility very seriously indeed and for that reason, would like to clarify a few points made in the article which appeared in the Worcester News on Monday, April 14.
We are very sorry that Mrs Eeley and her husband have been through such trying times. We would like you to know that we wrote on several occasions to offer a visit from an occupational health adviser, who would have been able to provide Mrs Eeley with support and advice.
Mrs Eeley did not respond to any of the letters we sent offering an appointment, so we wrote and invited her to attend a meeting to discuss her situation further.
Mrs Eeley declined to attend but did write to say that she would be at least another four to five months away from work due to her husband's illness.
At this point, it was apparent that Mrs Eeley was unable to fulfil the terms of her contract of employment. Accordingly, her contract with us was terminated, but we made it very clear in our letter that we would be open to discussion for renegotiating a contract when she was ready to return to work. We wish both Mr and Mrs Eeley all the very best for the future.
CATHERINE WILSON, Director of human resources at Worcester, Bosch Group.
