SIR - Voting time is here again and anyone wanting my support will need to be capable of coming to a decision independently of party political dogma which can be misleading.
For many years I was a member of Nalgo, a very moderate and reasonable body until one day the local branch determined to affiliate to the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, an organisation which at that time seemed to be engaged in protest hostile to the armed forces.
As a loyal and long-serving naval reservist there was no way in which I was going to affiliate to such an organisation and so I resigned. Nalgo told me it was not intended to exclude the likes of myself but that is how the hastily conceived dogmatic decision worked out.
JOHN HINTON, Worcester.
