SIR - I refer to the letter from N Winter of Pershore.
I was a bit surprised to read that the fire control centre at Worcester had to be evacuated to Droitwich due to power failure. The complex at Deansway has a generator sufficient to power lighting for the station but more importantly to power all of the control equipments. To ensure that there is no interruption to circuits when power fails, there is also a 20-minute power system that will allow the generator to run up to full power before taking over full power of the system.
If these power systems have been regularly tested and serviced, there should have been no need to evacuate.
