Sir - From newspapers to glossy monthly magazines, we are constantly informed about splendid new cars - and how fast they can go.
What's the point? Most of the roads I use are now 30mph, 40mph in places and sometimes as much as 50mph!
The articles extol the benefits of a car that will do 150mph, while even our motorway limits are 70pmh maximum (in theory).
If you splash out and buy one of these speed machines, you can't legally use it in England to its full potential - so again, what's the point? Nearly every car on the road today will do 100mph without much trouble and that's more than enough.
I would be far more interested in a car that does 150 miles to the gallon!
