SIR - Whoever thought up the hare-brained scheme of bus lanes along Newtown Road obviously has no local knowledge whatsoever. Many correspondents have recently condemned this stupid idea, and I have to agree.
The huge amount of development thrown up here has created volumes of traffic - and they want to build more.
But it takes but one single parked car on the Ronkswood Hill in term time to create a traffic jam reaching as far back as Nunnery Way. Anyone who uses this road regularly would know that.
I'm afraid the only way to solve this is parking restrictions on the hill.
One other idea would be to stop building large traffic-generating office developments in our area. Newtown has two new business parks in the pipeline, both of which will bring traffic and parking misery to local people.
A Birbeck.
