SIR - In reply to Helen Salter (Letters, February 15) and the attention- seeking headlines such as I am not afraid of women' - these in no way related to my original discussion with the Worcester News, which was to challenge/highlight the effects of men also being overweight, when the Primary Care Trust was seen to be addressing over 50s health issues.

A men's health awareness campaign day organized by the Evesham WiNN project in conjunction with Evesham District Pensioners' Association and was held in Evesham. One of the important issues raised by the public was men's weight. So I am disappointed when a PCT spokesperson does not acknowledge that being overweight is not a health issue for men.

Could I also say that Sue at Lyppard Grange Slimming World also made me very welcome, and that the last woman I was afraid of was Miss Nicholson at St Martin's School 62 years ago, when I was an eight-year-old.

BRIAN HUNT, Worcester.
