SIR - As residents of Westlands housing estate in Droitwich since May 2003 we have seen many positive changes. People of different cultures and nationalities and many walks of life have moved into this large and highly populated area, bringing with them their own special way of living The opening of WANDS children's centre, and later the Lighthouse Sunday School, have helped knit all these people together.

I have made so many friends from both organisations and without doubt this has changed my outlook on life and religion.

I find it hard to believe that in today's age of drug and alcohol abuse that an organisation such as a Sunday school, the endeavors of which are to point the way to a better understanding of life and make it easier for for young children to stay away from the temptation of drugs, alcohol and crime, would be banned from using the community centre at the heart of the estate.

What is a community centre? It has always been my understanding that they are public locations where members of the community may gather for group activities, social support, public information and other purposes. They may sometimes be open for the whole community or for a specialised group within the greater community.

Is it time now that the local council steps in and takes charge of this madness.
