SIR - What a pleasure to read the letters from Peter Scott and Councillor David Candler, which were favourable to the splendid EU.

These letters were such a contrast to the bilious nature of so many contributions on the subject of the European Union to the Worcester News letter page.

Incidentally, people tend not to realise that it is the EU and the co-operation between members states which has promoted the tremendous technological advances experienced in recent years.

However, John White of Evesham contends that our Armed Forces are "facing collapse through our wasting tens of billions of pounds on European projects".

What European projects? May I point out that we are wasting lives and money in Iraq and Afghanistan at the behest of USA and Israel. In fact, we have largely parted company with Europe as regards foreign policy, unfortunately.
