SIR - We keep reading about government house-building targets. People naturally get concerned about building on the flood plain and green belt. Surely it is time for the British put away their prejudices regarding high-rise blocks of flats?
They got a bad name because of the kind of people living in them.
It doesn't matter what building you put in a slum area, it will always be the same.
When you consider in an 11-storey block you have about 60 properties, just calculate how much ground that would take up. Other countries do it... why not us?
