SIR - I whole heartedly agree with Neil Hunter (February 7). A Starbucks coffee shop is quite inappropriate for our beautiful Guildhall.
His suggestion of afternoon tea and tea dances on certain days would be just wonderful and an attraction to both locals and visitors, young and old.
While on holiday in Sicily last year we became friendly with a Sicilian cafe owner who said how disappointed he had felt on recent visits to England, as it had become more and more difficult to find traditional English food.
To quote him, he said: "When I'm in England, I want to eat English sausages with mashed potatoes and gravy and drink English tea. I don't want lasagne and cappuccino!"
Worcester City Council take note; this could be an opportunity to promote our Englishness, using locally- sourced produce.
There is nothing better than tea served in a Royal Worcester Porcelain teacup, accompanied by a slice of homemade Victoria sandwich cake.
JUNE TYLER, Worcester.
