SIR - I felt I must write to you regarding the article Give us men-only slimming classes' on February 6.
I must admit, I felt the same about going to a slimming class and I am a woman. It can be very daunting and no one wants to be told that they are overweight.
However, I must urge this gentleman to please come to the meeting I attend at Perdiswell Primary School on a Thursday evening. It is run by Clayton Smith - a man who knows exactly how it feels to have been overweight and has done so well to get to where he is today.
It is a very friendly, supportive group of people who always have a smile for you when you walk through the doors and there are men who attend both classes and are doing very well.
No one is looked at differently be they male or female. So, I say come along and have a look for yourself. At the end of the day we all go for the same reason - to lose weight - and it helps to be in the company of friends to help you along the way.
HELEN SALTER, Worcester.
