SIR - While agreeing with Worcester City Council's deputy leader Councillor Paul Denham on the additional charges for dying affecting vulnerable people, perhaps he would care to comment on Dispatches, Heat or Eat, on Channel 4 on February 4, exposing the disgraceful treatment by his Government of those vulnerable elderly people living at home, with, or with lack of, the so-called care in the home service.
Many of the situations seen would be totally unacceptable in an impoverished Third World country. I would also challenge Paul Denham, Mike Foster or Gordon Brown on the continued claims of two per cent inflation. They obviously must have shopping and heating concessions or supplements.
British Gas prices have gone up 15 per cent and many essential food lines have increased some 25 to 30 per cent since last April, so how can this be two per cent or are these just more New Labour lies? This Government is truly a disgrace.
BRIAN HUNT, Worcester.
