SIR - Just before Christmas, Pershore and District Canine Training Society held a companion dog show in order to raise much-needed funds for two local charities - the Worcestershire Animal Rescue Centre and PUPS (Protection of Unwanted Puppies).

We had a very happy and successful day and would like to say a big thank you to all those who helped and supported us. We were very grateful to have sponsorship from Pets at Home, Lidl, Tesco, Ken and Jen Mason and daughters of Pershore, Brooklyn Coiffeurs of Malvern, Martin and Carr Veterinary Surgeons of Pershore, Severn Veterinary Centre of Worcester and also Trisha Jones, who kindly sponsored rosettes for the show.

Our thanks must also go to the intrepid band of Countryside Centre dog walkers for their generous support and last, but by no means least, to the society members for their help with all aspects of the show arrangements and their generosity in providing raffle prizes and food for the refreshments.

We expect to be able to donate about £500 between the charities, which we hope will be of help to them at what is usually a very difficult time of year for animal rescue charities. Thanks again everyone.

DIANE SKERM, Hon secretary Pershore and District Canine Training Society.
