SIR - Recently, I was appalled at the total lack of consideration of drivers at junctions and roundabouts on our Worcester roads when a funeral procession is driving by.
At the island on Astwood Road into Tintern Avenue, the entrance to Astwood Cemetery, at least seven vehicles continued on their journey around the island while the stationary hearse driver indicated to turn right, no one showing respect to stop and let the cars pass on the way to their destination.
Worcester Crematorium is very busy and funeral times are adhered to by the many funeral companies who use it, so why can't drivers stop at the islands, for just a minute, to let the procession go past?
One courteous driver in his truck (Blackpole Recycling) stopped the traffic flow at the island, letting our family of mourners pass on its way.
Thank you. So drivers - just 30 seconds added to your journey wouldn't hurt, would it? One day, it may be you.
JANET SEARLE, Worcester.
