SIR - We have again experienced heavy rainfall and so parts of the Worcester area are again flooded.
My husband and I enjoy walking, so recently, during a dry spell, we walked around Whittington. Parts of the road were completely flooded - the reason being because the drains and ditches were filled with rubbish and debris.
Surely, if these were properly maintained in all parts of the city and county flooding could be greatly alleviated.
Recently, we spent a holiday in Madeira, travelling all over this lovely island.
The roads were wonderfully clean and well maintained. Each day we saw workmen with brooms and shovels cleaning out the drains and water channels, so that rainwater could run away freely.
Surely we have much to learn from life in Madeira.
NANCY DYSON, Worcester.
