SIR - So now our bodies are to be the assumed property of the State? Opt out or else?

And what about babies, children, the mentally disadvantaged and indeed anyone who may be too ill to make known their wishes to keep their bodies intact in death? A quarter of the population have already joined the NHS organ donor register, www.uktransplant.org.uk Many of us carry donor cards, me included, and that means we willingly and freely decide to give our organs to try to save someone else's life or health. And what if you did decide to opt out?

What guarantee would you have that the information might not then be lost or stolen, entered wrongly, or just not be available in time?

This Government has again and again proved its inability to process and store information safely and securely. There's no reason to believe it would be any less incompetent with transplants.
