SIR - A huge thank you to all the people who joined us on the protest march through Pershore on Saturday morning (January 5).

I looked back at the top of Bridge Street and saw that we had over 60 people.

We warmly welcomed the only Pershore councillor, Jane Daniels, to join us on our march who also brought with her a message of support from Coun Ray Steadman. The other councillors were nowhere to be seen - an excellent indication of just how much they value their electorate's opinion.

I will be handing over a petition with a minimum of 2,000 signatures on it to the town council next week stating that we want our original lights back for Christmas 2008 and they can jolly well budget for it.

If the town councillors fail to deliver what many of them promised in election literature, they can consider the last six weeks of our campaign to be the very small tip of a very big iceberg!

As for the disenchantment scheme, well, let the chaos begin. If you've ever watched the film Cars, then you will ironically note that Pershore could be twinned with the small town of Radiator Springs - after all, they are both situated a short distance from the Freeway (M5) with all its shops and hotels fully stocked, just waiting for the return of its customers if ever the road gets finished!

TRUDY BURGE, Pershore.
