SIR - Re the headline on Saturday, December 15 - Council Forced To Slash Budget. Councillor George Lord suggested a way for the council to save money but it was voted down.

They still manage to find enough money to do up County Hall and look after themselves.

They say there's going to be redundancies - my advice is start at the top and cut back severely, that way you get better fruit further down the tree.

Another thing they could stop doing is paying silly salaries.

I also think the car parks have been milked enough.

The city council and county council should amalgamate.

But these councillors want to keep their little bit of empire - that's why they can't work to a budget.

JOHN SHEARON, Worcester.
