SIR - I wonder if others are as uneasy as I about the millions of pounds being sent to the USA in pursuit of miracles or financial reward?
Many evangelists are undoubtedly genuine but they operate in a field notable for the quack and the charlatan so far as miracles go, and for the fraudster when improved finance is the lure.
Loud indeed is the boasting when a confident forecast is fulfilled. But, just as a man who has lost the housekeeping money in a betting shop stays mum, so he who has sent money to the States and the promise is broken, remains silent.
The huge odds against a successful investment being made should be calculated by compiling a confidential register of promises bought and then broken. Until that is done, the wise man will leave his money in the building society.
