SIR - Regarding your concerning maggots in a wheelie bin (Worcester News, June 22), myself and a friend have also had this problem.

I rang the council and was told: "There's nothing we can do - you will simply have to bleach out the bin!"

I was absolutely livid.

I hate maggots and for all the council tax I pay, the council should clean the bins for us.

Eventually I did pour bleach into the bin and all the maggots died, they stank the bin out and are still in the bin now.

I never had this problem with sacks and weekly collections, so why should I have the problem now?

It won't stop at maggots, it will probably encourage cockroaches and rats if and when we get any summer weather.

Well done, Worcester City Council for this idiotic rip-off of fortnightly collections!
