SIR - It's hard to credit that Councillor George Lord should present the latest Christopher Whitehead Languages College news so positively (Worcester News, June 22).

Coun Lord knows that the plan to be implemented could have provided the benefits he mentions from Sainsbury building in the area at any time in the last six years.

Instead Coun Lord's insistence that he wouldn't listen to the people in 2002 and his prominent role at the planning meeting that nearly moved the school in 2003 left St John's in limbo - causing anguish for residents, parents, children and classroom teachers alike.

Of course, Coun Lord was extremely poorly advised by senior officers.

It seems he is now reflecting County Hall's sea change on the Chrissies issue since November 2005.

But let's remember that politicians should filter, steer and independently decide on ideas presented by council officers on behalf of their electorate.

Coun Lord has completely failed to discharge this responsibility and would do everyone a favour by standing down.
