SIR - Who pays for the BBC advertisement urging people to buy a television licence? If Centrica, the company which is paid £20 million a year to collect licence fees, pays for it, surely it is breaking the BBC Charter, which forbids commercial advertising.
The BBC's self-advertisments are increasing. This is the thin end of the wedge; before long BBC advertisements will equal ITV.
