SIR - I would like to thank all the people in Worcester city centre who signed a large birthday card for Aung San Suu Kyi, the lady who has been under house arrest in Myanmar (Burma) for nearly 12 years.
She is the leader of the democratic party which won a landslide victory in the 1990 election but the result has never been honoured. The brutal military dictatorship still rules the country.
Aung San Suu Kyi is a Nobel Peace Laureate and inspires us all with her ideals and steadfastness. She was 62 on June 19. We hope that our card from the people of Worcester will bring her comfort.
