SIR - When the Olympic games was first being planned and our bid went in we were all asked to back the bid' get involved and support us' - these will be your games,' we were told.

As a result of which many of us did - I was one who wore the 2012 Back The Bid T-shirts everywhere and stuck stickers in my windows. I sent text messages and e-mails to show my support.

The day we won the bid I was filled with excitement. I remember crying when we won.

Two years on and frankly I wish I hadn't bothered. The one area which could have involved the entire country and got every schoolchild involved was the logo - it could have been fun, a competition held over the summer.

Instead it appears the message is that if it's good enough for Ken Livingstone and Lord Coe, it'll have to be good enough for the rest of us.

I hope that our MP will look into this.

What do the games hold for Worcester - well not much really, but we had a real chance for community involvement here and it has been lost.

2012 now for me will have a long way to go to regain that special element of summer 2005.

Alex Kear, Claines, Worcester.
