Sir – Will Worcester City Council never learn? Why do they continue to vandalise this beautiful city?
Despite the objections from Historic England and English Heritage, they approve the demolition of an historic building in order to erect a six-storey block of flats. It is beyond belief.
I thought this council wanted to attract tourists who could be interested in our historical buildings.
In his book, Worcester in a Day, Michael Dowty said: “It was precisely this kind of sanctioned vandalism that caused Worcester to suffer a nasty attack of national notoriety in 1964,when Geoffrey Moorhouse opened ‘The Sack of Worcester’ to a wider audience in The Guardian newspaper.”“
Be warned!
