Sir – As more terrorist attacks occur in France. Austria and elsewhere, I listened to Pope Francis saying he believed this was war but not on religion. I agreed with him. It seems to be war about political power.
The assassination of an elderly priest in France by men advocating Daesh principles despite the attempts by the parents of one to prevent him and who was tagged, can only be described as an evil act – and little to do with mental disorder, as one commentator suggested.
Such acts are to be thoroughly condemned.
However, while Donald Trump advocates throwing out Muslims from the US, it is difficult to imagine anything other than similar acts continuing.
Post-Brexit, let us hope that Britain can set an example of patriots working together and avoiding any belligerent approach to problem-solving.
