SIR - Much is written about young people today and one all too often hears in the news of all the trouble they cause - vandalism, robbery muggings and the like.

I would like to relate the following story which has a much happier outcome.

I am 92 years old and on May 24 was going down to the Methodist church in Bromyard Road for a visit to a club held there.

I became a little tired and stumbled and fell in the gutter. I was not seriously hurt but could not get up.

A group of about six youngsters, I think only about 11 years old, came over to me and tried to help me up.

They were too small, however, and could not lift me. One of the group said he would go for help and asked the others to look after me until he returned.

He duly returned, bringing an adult who helped me up and put me into his car and returned me to my residence in Regent House, School Road.

I am very grateful to these young people who were kind, understanding and able to get assistance for me.

Thankfully, I was not seriously hurt and would like to take this opportunity to thank the young people and suggest that their behaviour is probably more typical of young people today.

I would, of course, also like to thank the adult who took me back to Regent House in his car. Thank you very much, whoever you are, and God bless you.

Iris Richardson, Worcester.
